Top 5 Best 2010 Sport Compact Tuner Cars

If I have any readers left after a less-than-stellar, I'd like to share a piece I did for Associated Content that I consider among one of my better works, especially lately with everything I've been through. If you don't know about all that, here's a MySpace blog that explains quite a bit of it

So, anyway, here's the article, Top 5 Best 2010 Sport Compact Tuner Cars. I wouldn't exactly call it art, but a decent article it is.

Back in the car reporting bizzzzz - check out these Hyundai tuner cars

Wanted to share my first piece I did after medical leave from the automotive reporting business - Associated Content exclusive "Why Late-Model Hyundai Tuning Makes Sense"

I hope all my readers will be glad to know that I am feeling much better and will soon be doing some test drives of some mean Hyundai tuner-ready cars and other fine sporting machines. That's the goal anyway. It's good to have goals, right?

BWPI

swearyou'llfindme (:

that is a quick one. here is a flyer for youall to chase around.
Business is quite good for la.is as of late. We seem to have happened onto a new boss, a/o business manager should she accept the position. The job, of course, would not require much time or effort or especially not require the leaving of her current day job. M. has a day job and does her best as far as myself or anyone else seems to be concerned.

The manager of the cafe where she works I hope will go along with her taking a second job that requires very little time or effort but a whole shitload of business sense, which I have seen first hand that she has in droves!

So, Ms. M., if you want to be the left wing for the Los ANgeles Insomniac Society and make money and hold some of my cash to use at your discretion as long as you keep boooks, you are welcome.

Thanks for listening and considering a very publicized and yet private offer.

All the best,
JFS

Second Life Meets Shadowrun Meets Personal GPS: The Rise of the Pre-Op Cyborg

An idea my nerdy techie friends and I constantly throw around is the fact that modern technology has already allowed us with constant connectivity gear like that found in Shadowrun, Ghost in the Shell and Snow Crash.

Combining a 3G and GPS-equipped, always on web connection device (read: fancy $300 cell phone) with a Bluetooth hands-free headset with a device like this one, basically a fully-tested heads-up display (HUD) that will project a partially transparent image in front of your face...

See where I am going here? Not yet? Several "mobile social networking" software platforms, such as Flickr and Yahoo's new oneConnect service can be integrated with Bluetooth headsets and integrated personal HUD devices for real time, real world information sharing, to be built on a system that has not been developed yet.

You know those cool graphics inside Iron Man's helmet in that Marvel flick from earlier this year? Imagine that kind of data--controlled by each end user of course--available for each and every cybernetic-equipped person you pass on the street. Need to find an available acoustic bass player for your mariachi gig tonight? Screw craigslist, run a geolocate search and approach him or her yourself, and ask.

Of course, the government would probably get involved and start buying up databases to keep tabs on everyone. You wouldn't want to be walking around projecting audio/visual messages to strangers on the street with your real name and telephone number, and that you have some really good dope for sale, that kind of thing.

Just think.. just think..

Someone's wheels are turning. The digital revolution has just begun. 10 years ago? Your cell phone has a camera? No shit! 5 years ago? Your cell phone can browse the internet? ahahahahhahaha! 5 years from now?

"Dude, you can't see AND hear my tags? You are only running a personal video stream of 2 terabytes? Time for an upgrade.."

Oh fucking brave new world indeed.

use care when dealing with Apple Computer please.

so i was near two apple stores today, just by happenstance, and there were news crews at both of them. what is the big deal about apple? i am waiting for the google android phones to start coming out, as it seems so much more interesting, being that it is open source and all.

i am a big nerd, as much as ever, and i have spent my summer to date writing about sports cars. that's a lot of what my internship has entailed: writing about sports cars. pretty good for a summer internship, right? in addition, i am learning more and more about html and php coding, though i am still at the very beginning stages of this, and a whole lot more about writing for search, post-production seo tips and tricks, good keywording, and the anatomy of a web page such that the spider robots can see things great. if you don't know what i am talking about, well, a few weeks ago i didn't know what i was talking about either. not that i know what i am talking about now. it just seems a little better.

anyways, all of this is to say, don't buy an iphone. i think i am going to go make some hot cocoa and coffee to give to the nerds camped out in front of the apple store on colorado blvd.

World of Warcraft addiction: Yea, it got me. I won though.

I want to share a little piece I did for all the video game addicts out there. World of Warcraft addiction took my ass into a computer chair for hours at a time, and I didn't get up. It took me a year of spending far too much time running around Azeroth killing things in this silly game. WoW is fun for lots of players, but many more become addicted and then can't stop. Comments? Do you play this game, or others like it? Did World of Warcraft destroy your social life?

How I overcame World of Warcraft Addiction

6.16.2008

To me and mine:

I start my new internship, where I will not be getting paid but learning lots and lots and lots, tomorrow morning. I am excited for this opportunity. I know how to write, now I am going to learn how to web. Not so much write code, as make content "fit" what users expect, are looking for, and can find.

Hopefully, after all this is over, my get rich slow schemes will be supplemented by lots of great new knowledge. I know it is important, in order to be marketable as a journalist today, to have a good grasp of SEO, keywording, analytics, catering to the netizen while being true to form and content, success all around.

Wish me luck.

Blog rollin'

Happy Friday, my friends. Wanted to take a moment to share some of my favorite 'net news spots with my millions of readers. These are some of the techie feeds I get, or blogs I check daily, that you might get a kick out of.

Crave is just about as good as anybody else when it comes to keeping up on gadgets and other interesting developments in the technocracy.

The Boy Genius Report. They write primarily about cell phones and mobile web, GPS, etc. If you are the type who likes to always have all the newest gear, or at least sit at a coffee shop and dream about all the newest gear you might like to have, check it out.

Howard Forums.I have this strange obsession with cell phones, especially in making them do things that people probably didn't even know they could do. Howard Forums has a large user base and is a great place to go if your phone breaks and you would like to know how to fix it. Or, if it is not broken at all, and you would like to know how to fix it.

IGN. (internet...gaming...network?) If you are a gamer and you like to know what is new coming out, or to read reviews from nice weird professional gamers before shelling out $60 for a new game, this is a great place to start.

Accentuate Writers Forumis a little off topic here, but if you are a writer of fiction, the news, nonfiction or anything else really, this is a great community to read about opportunities online, to receive critiques from others in the industry, etc. Very friendly, helpful people here!

Great success to you and yours.

Your friend,
Jesse

$10 per word...

Hope everyone is enjoying the beginnings of a beautiful summer! I am super excited about many things right now, so much so that I am having trouble sleeping, I just keep thinking, dreaming, plotting, hoping, writing...

My new best friend website, AssociatedContent.com, had a writing contest yesterday where the writer of the winning article (500 word max.) gets an ice-cold $5,000!

Entries are closed, but it sure has created a buzz all around this writer's community. It has been a fun thing to get excited about for me!

My article lays out the popularity of online role playing games and virtual worlds, compares "Second Life" to Neal Stephenson's Metaverse, and gives a look ahead to online immersive environments in the year ahead. I'd love your feedback, use the link up top or peep it here.

Miss you CSUNers, hope your summer is going well.

An NBA Finals for the ages.

People are often a little puzzled as to why I get so damned excited over NBA basketball, especially when the playoffs roll around. I am not a natural athlete, I don't follow sports in general.. To be honest I think that sports pundits are just about the lowest form of writers in existence, at least the ones who can pump out 3,000 words on whether or not Derek Fisher fouled Brent Barry at the end of a game, if the league is intentionally trying to screw some teams out of a title run, and any number of other ridiculous analysis farts.

But, for whatever reason professional basketball is one of my favorite things to watch on this planet. I love the fast tempo of the game, the profound effect of the home crowd, the momentum shifts, the athleticism, passion, physicality...the Lakers. I am very excited about the NBA Finals to come, a reprise of the storied Lakers-Celtics matchup. Here is an article I wrote back in late April, before the playoffs began, on why this would be a great thing for all NBA Fans. Now it is a reality!
"A Lakers Vs. Celtics 2008 NBA Finals Would be an NBA Lover's Dream" (Apr. 21)

Rock 'n' roll,
J
